About Us

African Metal Sculptures take a unique approach to helping local communities and villages in Africa by employing people to create works of art from discarded oil drums and general scrap metal. No piece of metal is discarded as every little piece has its place in one of the outstanding sculptures that are produced by the skilled craftsmen in the remote communities.
The sculptures are made entirely by hand from recycled materials. Innovative artists and craftsmen work in African Co-operatives within their local communities bringing a fresh and contemporary approach to the art of sculpting metal.

Each sculpture is unique. No mechanical production line technology is used, only the basic tools such as hacksaws, snips and welding equipment are used to cut, bend, shape and join each little piece of the puzzle to produce each and every sculpture.
Each sculpture may look the same, but they individualy reflect the character of each of the local craftsmen who diligently create them.
From the smallest insect to towering giraffes and robust elephants, each piece is proudly constructed with care and attention to detail with the vision that every sculpture will last a lifetime.
Quality control is a high priority as the livelihood of the small communities depend on producing consistent high quality work with attention to the finest detail.
Many of the artists enjoy working for themselves at our engineering company and are supplied with all the equipment needed to work on their own and brings a sense of pride and achievement to the community as a whole.
This way the craftsmen remain independent and are able to employ their relatives and local town people. African Metal Sculpture’s policy is to buy all the art produced and give forward orders to the artist therefore guaranteeing them work for the future.
